Farm Update

It's a rainy August so far, but the replanting continues. We have resumed deliveries on a limited basis; the garden does not have enough surviving plants to bring something to everyone each week.

So we are trying to get to everyone eventually, more or less in seniority order i.e. oldest customers first. EVERYONE will eventually get a delivery, and hopefully by fall they will become more regular as the new plantings grow. Although you may be tired of turnips, carrots, beets and lettuce by then!

We are continuing to clean out garden beds and replant them; we'll keep pushing this as long as feasible to see what we can squeeze out of the season.

New Batch of Chickens

The first batch of birds sold out pretty quickly, and the new batch is coming this week. I plan to do the next 'chicken run' on Saturday (the 28th).

This will be the last batch of birds until the end of October, so drop me a line if you want some. The birds are between 4 and 6 lbs, free range organic (naturally) and are inspected and quick frozen at a local provincially-approved abattoir.

I've re-thought the pricing, because a couple people pointed out to me that charging separately for the abattoir fee (now $5 a bird, by the way, thanks to the HST) meant they were paying proportionally more for smaller birds.

So, the new price per pound is a flat $4.00; I understand from the organic farmer that I buy my grain from that my price is at least $0.25 a lb lower than anybody else he knows.

and, ps the car is still for sale, 2004 Cavalier, 4 door sedan, 170K on the odometer. I was asking $3,900 but am willing to negotiate (even downwards ;-)

Scott
