Lac la Croix Ponies For Sale
We are the proud owners of 5 Lac la Croix ponies, and were the owners of one of the original pairs, Java and Ahneen, brought to Canada back in 99.
The Lac la Croix ponies are an amazing breed. We've had some on our farm for more than 10 yrs now and they continue to impress me. They have a very easy going manner, very intelligent, known for their sure-footedness, very easy to care for and cheap to feed.
They are a hardy breed and endure the cold Canadian climate easily, growing an nice thick furry coat and with their thickly furred ears and long heavy manes and tails they prefer to be outside as long as it's not freezing rain.
They can be trained to do everything: hauling, riding, driving, and they work great with beginning and disabled riders. Pound for pound these ponies can pull like a Percheron.
Their history tells us that about 200 hundred years ago the Ojibwa Indians bred the Canadian horse to the Spanish mustang. They were rescued from the brink of extinction in the late 1970's near Lac La Croix village, and transported to Minnesota We believe now there are only about 200 in the world.
The mares I have for sale are the off spring from the original pair brought to Canada in 1999 from Minnesota.
Sadly, we now have to sell our two mares and their two colts born in April 2011. Shadow, out of Java and Anheen is 5 yrs old and is the taller of the two. The colt is also tall and would make great breeding stock. Winnie, also out of Java and Ahneen, is 6 yrs old. Both colts are out of Madjikiwiss a stud at Jane Mullins, Eqilore Farm. Preference will go to

members to keep the breeding stock strong. Price is negotiable, we want them to go to a farm that will continue the breeding program.
